Road trip – Washington to New York and back again.
I’ve been a little quiet on Mintcustard recently as I was on holiday over Easter. As I’m not organised enough to have scheduled posts prior to my trip I apologise now for my absence.
As everyone else in the UK was filling themselves up with chocolate eggs, we were eating far too many pancake breakfasts and remembering for once to ask for starter sized portions as main courses or sharing one main meal between two. We took a short road trip up the east coast of the US from Washington to New York and back. We travelled via Baltimore, Delaware and Philadelphia. Six states in five days, not bad going really.
There were some fantastic food highlights: diner breakfasts, dinner with friends, featuring a huge tub of vermont maple ice cream and hearing the characteristic sound of philly cheesesteaks being created in Reading Terminal Market. Cultural diversions a plenty too: seeing Dorothy’s ruby slippers and having to try hard not to click my heels, clapping eyes on the President as his cavalcade rolled past and wandering through the most glorious arbors of flowering cherry trees I’ve ever seen.
I’ll post a few photos just to tease you but I’m working on a few recipes inspired by my trip that I’m keen to share with you all as soon as possible.
Yummmmm. That maple ice cream was delicious! 😉
